Philately expo features world of butterflies

The philatelic collection on butterflies, by Baikady Shrinivas Rao, gathered the attention of like-minded, during the philatelic exhibition organised by Dakshina Kannada District Philatelists and Numismatists Association, at Head Post Office in Pandeshwara, Mangaluru, on Sunday.

The exhibition featured the thematic collection of stamps on the winged beauties, issued by various countries, including Thailand, UAE, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Australia, Cuba, Denmark and Vietnam.

Speaking to DH, Baikady Shrinivas Rao said that the collection had won the first prize in the national- level competition.

Apart from a variety of butterflies, the collection also highlighted the stamps on endemic species, anatomy, behaviour, survival strategy and predators of butterflies. Also, there were magazine sheets and cancellations on butterflies.
