Five days work in a week should be implemented for the department staff. The postal department should not be privatised, were their other demands.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Joint Action Committee district president D M Lokappa Gowda said the old pension system should be reintroduced.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The NPS will not be of any benefit to the employees. The discrimination in the implementation of seventh pay commission recommendations should be sorted out, he demanded.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The Kaveri Grameena Bank Employees Association members staged a protest against the privatisation of Grameena banks. </p>.<p class="bodytext">The retirement scheme of the commercial banks should be extended to Grameena banks and the daily<br />wage labourers system should be suspended and service of daily wage labourers should be regularised, they demanded.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Akhila Bharatha Bank Employees Association members staged a protest against the merger and privatisation of banks. </p>.<p class="bodytext">The members gathered at Canara Bank main branch in Chikkamagaluru and shouted slogans against the merger of banks. </p>.<p class="bodytext">The protesters urged the authorities to fill the vacant posts in the banks and strengthen the banking system in the country.</p>
