Pulse polio drive on February 3

All children below five years of age will be administered with pulse polio drops on February 3, said Deputy Commissioner P I Sreevidya.

Speaking during a preparatory meeting at the DC’s office hall on Wednesday, she said that the children who
have missed pulse polio drops during the previous pulse polio campaign will be identified and immunised this
time.

She asked the officials to visit tribal hamlets and line houses to administer pulse polio drops to children.

District health and family welfare officer Dr Rajesh said that there are 39,319 children below five years of age in the district. About 4,602 are from urban areas and 34,717 are from villages.

“A total of 465 booths have been opened in the district for pulse polio drive. In addition to these, there are 20 transit teams and six mobile teams. As many 1,950 administers, 87 supervisors and 966 door-to-door visiting teams have been formed,” he said.

Health and Family Welfare Department official Dr Shivakumar, Zilla Panchayat assistant secretary Babu and City Municipal Council commissioner M L Ramesh took part in the meeting among others.
