Punjabi movie to release in Pakistan

Latest Bollywood flick, Salam Khan starrer Ek Tha Tiger might have been banned in Pakistan, but Ajj De Ranjhe will be the first Punjabi movie to be released in Pakistan and India simultaneously on September 7.  

Manmohan Singh, director and producer of the movie, said the competent authority has given permission to release the movie in Pakistan on the same day.

He said this would be the first movie to get such a large opening audience of Punjabis, since Punjabi is widely spoken in Pakistan as well.

A presentation of Reliance Entertainment, the movie will also be released in Canada, New Zealand, UK, the US, Australia and European countries on September 7.

Manmohan Singh said, “This is like a dream come true in context of Punjabi films. The Pakistan release will not only forge ties between the two nations, but it will also provide Punjabi cinema a new market. Without including Pakistan’s Punjabi
audience, the ambit of

Punjabi audience has always remained limited.”

The director said that this was one of the reasons behind South Indian films posing a challenge to Punjabi films.

“After this new beginning, Punjabi films stand a chance to establish markets in Pakistan,” Manmohan said.

The day is not far when Punjabi films will have budget in multiple crores,” Manmohan added.
