MLA C T Ravi has urged the government to release financial assistance for the last rites of 1,309 people from the SC and ST communities.

Addressing reporters, he said that the financial assistance is pending for disbursal to 538 families belonging to SC, 17 families of ST and 754 others.

The financial assistance has not been provided even after two years of death. Each family is to be provided with an amount of Rs 5,000. The funds should be released immediately, he said.

The MLA further said that the status of farmers’ loan waiver is still confusing.

“The order pertaining to the loan waiver has not reached the nationalised banks while the loan waiver amount has not been released to the cooperative banks. The farmers are not able to avail of new loans. The government should take immediate steps in this regard,” he added.

Also, the order related to the leasing of more than five acres of land to the cultivators for a long-term has not been issued by the government, he said and pointed out that the cases filed against the cultivators have not been cleared.

C T Ravi accused Trinamool Congress and Congress of carrying out vote bank politics at the cost of national interest.

He also termed the move of TMC Supremo Mamata Banerjee of backing illegal Bangla immigrants to be an act of sedition.

The National Register of Citizens (NRC) monitored by the Supreme Court has identified 40 lakh illegal immigrants in Assam. Illegal immigrants in West Bengal, Bihar, Karnataka and other parts of the nation should also be identified. They should be expelled from the country, he added.

BJP leaders H D Tammaiah and Kote Ranganath were present.
