'Remove Islamic writings in Datta Peetha'

Last Updated 13 October 2018, 11:11 IST

The Bajrang Dal has demanded that the Islamic writings and symbols on the welcome arch at the Padukalaya of Datta Peeta be removed.

Bajrang Dal south zone coordinator Sunil K R said that although the court has ordered for maintaining the status quo on Datta Peeta, there are Islamic writings found at the Padukalaya. He stressed that measures should be taken to remove the Islamic writings.

He sought the administration to appoint priest on a permanent basis.

If the authorities concerned failed to act, the Bajrang Dal activists would launch a severe protest, he warned.

Sunil said the rise in cattle theft and temple burglaries in Udupi district is a cause for concern. He urged the district police to take action to curb the menace.

The activists will form Gau Rakshak teams similar to that in Dakshina Kannada to save cattle and temples in Udupi district, he said.

The Bajrang Dal will take up Akhanda Baharat Sankalp on August 14 by organising 100 rallies at various places across South India, he said and added that rallies were being organised to enhance the spirit of unity and integrity among the regions in the country.
