A 41-year-old man was sentenced to life imprisonment after being proven guilty of murdering his father by the Principal District and Sessions Court on Thursday.

Dolphy Govias loathed his father Paul Govias for transferring property to his daughter. Dolphy’s hatred for his father doubled, when Paul succeeded in getting the local courts pass orders restraining his son and his wife from entering their house at Karingana in Hosabettu.

Dolphy, who rented shamiyanas, gained entry into the house on April 7, 2017, and clubbed his father to death. In order to destroy evidence, he also removed the CCTV camera and DVR installed in the house.

Based on the complaint of another son Stany Govias, Moodbidri Inspector Ramachandra Nayak filed a case and submitted a chargesheet against Dolphy in the sessions court. During the trial, it was revealed that the mother had passed away under mysterious circumstances.

Principal District and Sessions court Judge Kadloor Sathyanarayanacharya upheld the arguments of public prosecutor Kudriya Pushparaj Adyanthaya and declared Dolphy guilty of murdering his father. The judge also ordered Dolphy to pay a compensation of Rs 50,000 to Stany Goveas.
