IPL auction 2021: Harbhajan Singh, Kedar Jadhav line up alongside Glenn Maxwell, Steve Smith in top bracket

A total of 164 Indian players, 125 overseas players and three from associate nations have been shortlisted

Senior spinner Harbhajan Singh and middle-order batsman Kedar Jadhav, along with Australians Steve Smith and Glenn Maxwell, have been bracketed in the Rs 2 crore highest base price category for the upcoming IPL auction in Chennai on Feb. 18.

There will be 292 players who will go under the hammer, with 61 slots in eight franchises up for grabs. The IPL Governing Council has pruned the players' list from the original 1,097.

A total of 164 Indian players, 125 overseas players and three from associate nations have been shortlisted for the auction.

The Royal Challengers Bangalore have the highest number of available slots with 11 while the Sunrisers Hyderabad have only three vacancies. Bangalore have 35.4 crore to spend in their wallet.

The Kings XI Punjab go into the auction with the highest purse (Rs 53.2 crore) while the Sunrisers and the Kolkata Knight Riders can spend a little less than 11 crore (10.75 crore). The Chennai Super Kings will have an interesting auction with a 19.9 crore purse and six slots to fill.

Both Harbhajan and Jadhav were released by Chennai this year.

Sachin Tendulkar's son Arjun, a left-arm fast bowler, has been included in the pruned list and is in the lowest base price category of Rs 20 lakh.

Apart from Maxwell and Smith, other overseas recruits in the highest base price category are Shakib Al Hasan, Moeen Ali, Sam Billings, Liam Plunkett, Jason Roy and Mark Wood.

There are 12 players with a base price of Rs 1.5 crore while Indian batsman Hanuma Vihari and fast bowler Umesh Yadav are in the third bracket with a base price of Rs 1 crore.

The auction will start at 3 pm IST on Feb. 18.
