Following the tie-up between FC Bengaluru United and Spanish giants Sevilla FC last month, Gaurav Manchanda, owner of FCBU, on Friday shed some light on the plans borne out of the agreement.

"We are aiming to improve our quality of football with knowledge transfer from Sevilla on training, technology, strategy, structure, tactics etc.," said Manchanda.

While there are plans for exchange programmes in the future, the travel restrictions due to Covid-19 has made it difficult to have precise timelines. The strategic partnership is a five-year plan with the focus on growing the brands of both clubs in India. With an eye on the long term, José María Cruz, General Director of Sevilla FC, said some plans are yet to be ironed out.

"We have put our methodologies in packages and we want to share the knowledge we have with clubs. For the short term we will do virtual clinics involving technical staff at both clubs," he said. "We are still defining some of the short-term strategy. Before the end of March, we will fully define it," he added.

FCBU are currently playing the BDFA Super Division and will also participate in the 2nd Division league. In addition to the agreement, the club also announced that they are working on two football pitches in ITPL that should be up and running by the end of the year. The club is also looking to build its own infrastructure on the outskirts of Bengaluru.
