Inauguration of football turf on May 18

Expected to be the home ground for Hindustan Aeronautics Sports Club for the 2010-11 season of the I-League, the artificial turf was supposed to be completed late last year. But after several delays, the turf will finally be ready to play next week.

An exhibition match between Bangalore sports reporters and KSFA Veterans XI will be held to mark the occasion.

The last I-League match of HASC’s stuttering campaign will also be played here on May 29 against title contenders East Bengal, barring any unforseen circumstances, while the local league matches — Super Division and ‘A’ Division — will begin on May 23. “We would have loved to play our home games at this ground. Because this is a proper football ground and more importantly it feels like a home ground. I’m glad that at least one match is going to happen here,” HASC captain J Murali said.

HASC, who got off to a bright start, find themselves at the bottom of the I-League and are fighting for survival in the top division.
