Wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik will replace the injured Wriddhiman Saha for the third and final Test against South Africa to be held in Johannesburg from January 24 at the Wanderers.
Karthik is expected to join the squad before the third Test. Saha was left out of the second Test also with Parthiv Patel taking his place in the ongoing Centurion Test where the Gujarat stumper’s work with the big gloves has left a lot to be desired.
“Wriddhiman Saha suffered an upper left hamstring tendon injury during training on Thursday (January 11). The BCCI Medical Team will continue to monitor his progress,” said a release from the BCCI on Tuesday.
Karthik, who is part of the Indian ODI squad that will play six matches against South Africa following the final Test, has played just one Ranji Trophy match this season against Tripura in October last.
