Mohit, Trisha cause upsets to clinch titles

On a day of upsets, top seeds Tejas Kallolkar and Shivani A Pathi lost the boys’ and girls’ under-15 singles finals respectively in the Ramaiah Rajan Sub-junior State-ranking badminton tournament on Tuesday.

Tejas, despite winning the first game rather comfortably, went down to fifth seed Mohit Gowda Palaksha 15-21, 21-18, 21-16.

It was a similar story in the under-15 girls’ final as third seed Trisha Hegde fought back from a game down to oust top-seeded Shivani 20-22, 21-16, 21-8.
