South United defeated defending champions ASC and Centre 3-2 in the BDFA Super Division League here at the Bangalore Football Stadium on Tuesday.

Looking good from the onset, South United jumped into the lead in the 26th minute when Solai Malai received a pass from Mahesh on the left flank and placed the ball neatly into the back of the ASC net.

Within two minutes, South United were 2-0, thanks to Manivanan.
The No 10, after getting a through ball from Subash, smacked it from outside the box to leave opposition goalkeeper Balwant leaden footed.

South United then made sure of victory six minutes into the second half when Manivanan crossed the ball from the right and Nagesh headed home.

Despite with their backs to the wall, ASC refused to submit, pulling one back through Jotin Singh exactly on the hour mark.

Eleven minutes later Deepak made it 2-3 as match headed towards an exciting finish. South United, however, held on bravely for a hard-fought win.
