‘108’ ambulance services extended by 3 months

Last Updated 12 August 2018, 17:58 IST

The term of the ‘108’ ambulance services has been extended by three months in public interest, Health Minister Shivanand Patil has said.

Speaking to reporters here on Sunday, he said that only three bids had been received for global tenders floated for providing the ambulance service in the state.

Since there was lacuna in bidders, the tenders have been floated again.

The process is on for the past one and half years, the minister said.

Replying to a question, Patil said that the government was ready to provide the service if contractors do not come forward.

“We have already purchased 400 vehicles for this purpose,” he said.
