14 KFD patients admitted at KMC, Manipal

As many as 14 patients from Sagar in Shivamogga district, who tested positive for Kyasanur Forest Disease (KFD) were admitted at Kasturba Hospital in Manipal on Tuesday.

With upgraded wards being opened in the hospital to treat the patients, the hospital authority said that there was ample stock of medicine at the hospital to treat the patients. On Monday, out of total 41 suspected cases, six were confirmed of KFD after their blood samples were sent to laboratory for testing.

Mohan Shetty, deputy manager, KMC, Manipal, said that on Tuesday, eight more patients were confirmed to have been infected with the disease. They are all from Sagara in Shivamogga district, he added.

Three patients who had recovered from the disease were discharged on Monday.
