JOIN USThree people, including a father-son duo who had gone to clean a well, suffocated to death at Kavalaga (K) village in Kalaburagi taluk on Wednesday.
The deceased have been identified as Channanna Chowdappa Chowdappagola, 60, his son Mallinath alias Mallu, 35, and Mahaboobsab Nabisab Koodi, 38.
It is said since the village was facing severe water shortage, it was decided to to clean an ancient well in the village so that the water there can be utilised by the people.
Accordingly, the trio entered the well which has a narrow entrance. Police said as motor pump was switched on to drain the water from the well, the trio inhaled carbon di oxide, which is present at the bottom of the well. All three fainted and when they didn’t emerge out of the well after a long time, the residents informed police.
The unconscious workers were brought up from the well and rushed to Chirayu Hospital in Kalaburagi. However, they were declared dead on arrival.
A case has been registered by Farahatabad police station.
