The bombs were found near the house of Yerri Swamy, a BJP-supported candidate for the forthcoming gram panchayat elections, and were kept inside a 1.5-metre long and three-inch wide plastic pipe.

As soon as the bombs were detected, Superintendent of police M N Nagaraj visited the spot. Police dog squads were pressed into action. The bombs were shifted onto an open field in the village. A bomb disposal squad from Bangalore arrived on Monday and defused the bombs. Security was beefed up in the village following the detection of the bombs.

Addressing a press conference here on Monday,  Nagaraj said the police found seven locally made bombs, along with a detonator, gunpowder and wires.  An investigation team comprising City Rural Deputy Superintendent of Police, Circle Inspector and P D Halli police station Circle Inspector conducted enquires in the border areas of Andhra Pradesh, since the village shares borders with the Rayalseema region of the neighbouring state.

A case has been registered against five people based on a complaint filed by Yerri Swamy. Nagaraj clarified that action will be initiated after investigation. No arrest has been made yet.
