Rumours have been doing rounds in the city that Congress MLA from Vijayanagar seat, Anand Singh, may soon quit the party.

The legislator is miffed with the party leadership after he was not considered for a berth during the recent Cabinet expansion.

Singh recently called on Railway Minister Piyush Goyal during the latter’s visit to Hampi in the taluk and spent the entire day with him. It is said that the two leaders held a secret meeting. The former minister also absented himself from the recent meeting of party workers held to felicitate new ministers Satish Jarkiholi and E Tukaram. Singh had met RSS leaders in Udupi, too.

His photo, featured along with his wishes for the New Year, only shows his name and designation, while the party symbol is conspicuous by its absence. Singh has been wooing the Nayaka community, traditional supporters of the BJP, in case he resigns as MLA and contests election on the BJP ticket.
