After two months, passenger train services between Mangaluru and Bengaluru will resume from Wednesday with Bengaluru-Kannur/Karwar Express train (16511/513 via Shravanabelagola) departing from Bengaluru at 7.15 pm.

The service from Mangaluru will resume from Thursday with Yeshwantpur-Mangaluru Junction tri-weekly express train (16575) leaving from Yeshwantpur at 7.10 am.

Services of night trains from Karwar/ Kannur to Bengaluru will resume on Thursday.

Similarly, day train service from Karwar (16516) will start on Saturday due to unavailability of rakes.

Landslides on the Sakaleshpur-Subrahmanya Road Ghat stretch had forced the SWR to suspend the train services from August 14 indefinitely.

The route was cleared after clearing 65 landlsides between August 14 and September 20.

Though it was planned to resuming the services by September end, a massive landslide near Siribagilu Railway Station had foiled the plan.

Over over two lakh cubic metres of mounds of soil has been removed for the restoration of tracks. The mounds of soil at Siribagilu was alone one lakh cubic metres. The SWR resumed services of goods train from October 1.
