A 12-year-old boy drowned in a stream which was overflowing due to heavy rain accompanied by gusty winds, thunder and lightning at Nagaramaduvu near Lakshmeshwar town.
The boy identified as Beerappa Marutheppa Kuri was a native of Balehosuru village.
Roofs of more than 35 houses blew away in the winds in Basapur village. Heavy rains accompanied by strong wind and lightning lashed Soraba and some parts of Shikaripura taluks on Thursday evening.
It also rained in Maski, Lingsugur and Manvi in Raichur district.
