The Congress has formally announced ceding of the Shivamogga Lok Sabha seat to its alliance partner JD(S).
With this, the grand old party will contest only two out of the five seats that face bypoll on November 3.
The Congress will now field candidates for the bypoll to the Ballari Lok Sabha seat and the Jamkhandi Assembly constituency.
The JD(S) will contest the Lok Sabha bypoll at Mandya, Shivamogga and the Assembly seat of Ramanagara.
“It isn’t that we don’t have candidates. It’s part of our strategy,” KPCC president Dinesh Gundu Rao stated.
