MLA Umesh Jadhav injured in bullock cart race mishap

Chincholi MLA Dr Umesh Jadhav sustained injuries during the annual bullock cart race organised on the account of ‘Kara Hunnime’ at Hire Agasi in Chincholi town of the district on Thursday.

One of the wheels of the cart ran over Jadhav’s right foot. He was immediately rushed to a hospital in Hyderabad.

After flagging off the race, the MLA was standing under a tree when one of bulls of a cart jumped and headed towards the legislator after being whipped. A bystander immediately pulled Jadhav towards him and saved him from suffering major injuries. But the cart run over his right foot. The Congress MLA was also injured in shoulder and back.

Two other people K M Bari and Dr Rafiq were also injured in the incident.

Man dies

Meanwhile, a man was killed on the spot after he fell from the moving cart at Ganjagiri Tanda in Chincholi taluk.

The deceased is identified as Raju shivaram Chavan, 35. Chavan fell down after one of the wheels run over a boulder. He came under the wheels of the cart.

Two persons Shravankumar and Anand were injured during the bullock cart race held at Mudhol in Sedam taluk.

Shravan Kumar, a participant, fell down from the cart and his face was stamped by the bulls. Anand, who had come to see the race, was gored by the bulls. Both have been admitted to District Hospital in Kalaburagi.
