Comp Science prof is new VC of UoM

Computer Science professor G Hemanth Kumar took charge as the new Vice Chancellor of the University of Mysore at the VC’s office, Crawford Hall, in the city on Friday.

In-charge VC Aisha M Shariff handed him over the charge.

The VC’s post was lying vacant since January 10, 2017, when K S Rangappa retired. Since then, six professors have acted as in-charge VCs. In the absence of a VC, the senior-most dean, among the various faculties of the university, automatically qualified to become in-charge VC, as per guidelines.

Former VC of the University of Agriculture Sciences, Narayanagowda, headed search committee had also recommended the names of B B Hosatti of Kuvempu University and Midatala Rani of the UoM for the top post of the century-old varsity.
