Cong won't give sitting MPs seat to JD(S): Siddaramaiah

Amidst delay over sharing of seats between Congress and JD(S), senior Congress leader and Former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday said the Congress has already decided not to give any Lok Sabha seats in Karnataka already represented by its MPs to JD(S).

“The Congress state unit already informed the party top brass not to give any seats represented by Congress MPs to JD(S). Same has been informed to JD(S) as well,” Siddaramaiah told reporters here.

Siddaramaiah, who was here to attend the party's candidate screening committee meeting, said that the JD(S) expressed its inclination to contest from some seats represented by Congress. We have not assured them anything, he said.

The delay on seat pact between two parties mainly because JD(S) insisting on contesting from Tumkur and Chikkaballapur Lok Sabha segments, currently represented by Congress.

Though both Congress president Rahul Gandhi and JD(S) supremo H D Deve Gowda held talks, they failed to seal the deal.

To a question on giving a ticket to film actress Sumalatha, wife of late actor Ambarish, he said the party informed her that film actress that she will not get party ticket from Mandya Lok Sabha seat.

He also dismissed the allegations that he was supporting Sumalatha to contest from Mandya as an independent.

Former CM also disapproved PWD Minister H D Revanna recent controversial statement that Sumalatha should not join politics since she lost her husband recently.
