Congress postpones Raichur rally

Last Updated 30 July 2017, 20:52 IST
The Congress on Sunday postponed a public rally it had planned to organise on August 4 at Raichur, which was to be attended by the party vice president Rahul Gandhi.

The rally has been postponed in view of the upcoming elections to the Rajya Sabha and the post of Vice President of India.

Sources in the party said the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee was planning to felicitate Rahul at the rally for providing special status to the Hyderabad-Karnataka region under Article 361(j) of the Constitution.

The special status was granted when the Congress-led UPA government was in power at the Centre.
