Congress takes out padayatra from Talapady to Pumpwell

The protesters said that the delay in the completion of flyovers has been inconveniencing the road users. The NDA led central government has completely neglected the four-lane project. The work on Mahaveer (Pumpwell) flyover is lying idle for past ten years.

Alleging inordinate delay in the completion of flyovers at Thokkottu and Pumpwell as a part of the four laning of the NH 66 from Talapady to Nanthoor, District Congress Committee, Mangaluru South Block Congress and Ullal Block Congress started a padayatra from Talapady to Pumpwell, covering a distance of 16-km, on Monday morning.

The padayatra is being taken under the slogan 'Rastriya Heddari mattu melsetuve kamagari poornagolisi; janara jeeva ulisi.'

The protesters said that the delay in the completion of flyovers has been inconveniencing the road users. The NDA led central government has completely neglected the four-lane project. The work on Mahaveer (Pumpwell) flyover is lying idle for past ten years.

District in Charge Minister U T Khader said that there has been undue delay in the work has been affecting the people. The Central government has been projecting all the state government as its own.

The padayatra will conclude at Pumpwell, in the evening with a public meeting.

DCC President Harish Kumar, former Mangaluru South MLA J R Lobo and others were present.
