12-foot idol of Madhwacharya installed at Koppal

Palimaru Mutt Seer Vidyadeesha Thirtha Swamiji performed the 'abhishekha' of a 12-foot idol of Madhwacharya at Madinuru, near Koppal on Wednesday.

Adamaru mutt seer Eeshapriya Thirtha Swamiji performed the 'sahasra Kalashabhishekha'.    

The programs were organised by the Madhwa Thapovana Seva Samsthe which has created a 'Madhwa Thapovana' on a six acre plot and the idol in it.  

The idol has been sculpted by 10 sculptors for six months at a cost of Rs 15 lakh. The 32 feet idol of Madhwacharya in Punjaragiri near Udupi is India's tallest. This new idol in Koppal is the second biggest in the state. The black granite from Mysore's H D Kote quarry has been used by the sculptors.
