13,259 students to appear for II PU exams in Kolar district

A total of 13,259 students in the district will appear for the second PU exams scheduled from Wednesday. Along with them 3,879 old students and 927 private students will also write the exam. Of the 13, 259 students 9,529 are boys and 8,536 are girls.

Among them, as many as 7,066 students are appearing from Arts section, 6,262 are from Commerce Department and 4,737 are from Science section.

In view of the exams, a total of 23 examination centres have been set up — seven in Kolar taluk, four in Kolar Gold Fields, three each in Srinivaspur and Malur, two in Bangarpet and four in Mulbagal.

Government Boys PU Colleges in Srinivaspur and Mulbagal; Government College in Tayalur in Mulbagal and KGF PU College in Urigam have been identified as sensitive centres in the district.

Students having 75 per cent attendance will be allowed to appear for the exam. Following a protest by students who did not get hall ticket for low attendance in Urigam, police’s assistance will be sought to prevent them from entering the hall, PU College Deputy Director M G Doreswamy told Deccan Herald.

This year, eight vigilance squads will be functional in the district, he added.
Mobile phones are banned in exam halls and the colleges have been directed to make seating arrangements to the all the candidates.

Following are the 23 exam centres in the district — Government College in Kolar taluk, Methodist Girls College, Gokul College, New Government College, Mahila Samaja College, Government College in Vemgal, Boys College in Srinivaspur taluk, Girls College, Bhairaveshwara College in Bhairapalli, Sharada Women’s College in Mulbagal, Government College, Girls College, Talyalur College, Malur Governemnt College, Girls College, JSS College, Boys and Girls College in Bangarpet, PU College in Kolar Gold Fields, Boys College in Robertsonpet, BMEL College and SBMJ College.
