'Amit Shah skipped Mysuru visit to avoid embarrassment'

Last Updated 10 June 2015, 17:29 IST

Spokesperson of Mysore District (City) Congress Committee, M Lakshmana on Wednesday alleged that BJP National President Amit Shah cancelled his scheduled visit to the city, only to avoid embarrassment.

Addressing media here, Lakshmana further alleged that some leaders within the saffron party apprised Shah about the nefarious intention of other leaders behind soon to be inducted hotelier M Rajendra into the fold. The party has identified a 62x80 sq ft (5,000 sq ft) site on Geetha road in Chamarajapuram to build its office.

The site originally belongs to Rajendra, who will be offered MLC seat or ticket to contest the forthcoming legislative council polls from Mysuru and Chamarajanagar local bodies constituency, in exchange of the site.

Sold or gifted?
Lakshmana alleged that the plot is worth Rs four crore and it is not known whether Rajendra has sold the land or gifted the land to BJP. Most importantly, earlier one site was owned by Rajendra, who purchased the adjacent plot later totalling the said extent of site. It is also not known whether the sites were amalgamated as per the law.

Lakshmana said, it is a serious matter to be probed in the wake of a recent incident where in the anti-corruption bureau (ACB) at Hyderabad in Andhra Pradesh, has arrested a sitting TDP MLA on ‘cash for vote’ charges. Either lokayukta, criminal investigation department (CID) or Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) should probe into the Mysuru case.

However, Lakshmana said, it has been decided to lodge a complaint with the State Election Commission (SEC) in this regard.

Reacting to media queries, Lakshmana claimed that he would produce the relevant documents shortly, in support of the allegation.

Advocate and Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) member from Mandya T S Satyananda said ‘It is also not known whether the authorities concerned have given clearance to construct the BJP office, as the plot is located in a residential area’.

‘Undeserving’
When the media persons drew the attention of Mysuru and Kodagu MP Prathap Simha about the  afore mentioned allegation, he curtly said ‘some people don’t deserve a reply’. When pestered, Simha questioned the morality of Congress party that was gifted land in Mysuru and also the building in Bengaluru, that was recently vacated by Janata Dal (Secular) party. The building originally belongs to Congress party.
