CPI activists staged protest, condemning the ‘anti-people’ policies of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led BJP government at the Centre at the Hanumantappa Circle here on Monday.

Terming Prime Minister Narendra Modi an autocrat, the protesters accused that the prime minister is not responding to the problems of the common man and the farmers.

CPI District Secretary H M Renukaradhya charged the prime minister with spending most of his time touring foreign nations, and caring least for the problems of the farmers and the labourers.

“The government has completely neglected farmers and the agriculture and has failed to check the growing number of farmers’s suicides in the country. In stead it has always been corporate-friendly with the schemes like Digital India and Smart City. The government is implementing anti-farmer and anti-labour policies, directly affecting the middle class,” he added.

CPI leader N R Manjunath said BJP which always opposed inflation, is now cutting petrol and diesel price just by 50 paisa or one rupee, though the oil price has slumped in the international market.

B Amzad said accused the prime minister of being silent over the communal issues. “The Prime Minister Modi has not even uttered a word on the murder of rationalists Dabolker, Govind Pansare or M M Kalburgi. The members burnt the effigy of the central government during the protest.

CPI District Assistant Secretary S L Radha Sundaresh, Taluk Secretary George Austin were present.
