Centre has failed people: CPI(M)

Last Updated 26 May 2015, 18:35 IST

The district unit of CPI(M) staged protest against BJP led NDA government and termed the one year rule of the latter as absolute anti-poor and pro-investors.

Speaking at the protest rally organised at Clock Tower, the CPI(M) District secretary Balakrishna Shetty said NDA government is utter failure and is pursuing anti-farmer policies.

He said the government is fast moving towards privatisation.
He said the government has failed to translate the promises into reality.
He added the governance is regressive and anti-people which would have adverse repercussions on the common masses in the long run.

He alleged that the greater insurance in Foreign Direct Investment and defence sector and promoting PPP (Public Private Partnership) and corporate social responsibility (CSR) in almost every major welfare sector has pushed the neo liberal reforms to high level.

The Prime Minister’s team has failed to deliver its promises and has been executing the policies of the previous UPA over the past 12 months.

Stating that the situation on the ground is different as against the BJPs claims, Shetty said only when Prime Minister looks at the country from abroad he feels people's faith in the government and world's optimism about the country was at an all time high.

He alleged that the introduction of COTPA (Cigarette and Other Tobacco Products Act) has brought the beedi workers and tobacco growers into the streets.
