Wile the president’s post was reserved for SC (woman), the vice-president post was reserved for general category.

When the meeting began, all BJP members were absent. But the Regional Commissioner, M V Jayanthi who was also returning officer, conducted the elections when she found the quorum to hold the special meeting. Except two none of them filed their nomination papers.

So the RC announced that both of them were elected unopposed. The entire election process completed within half an hour. The BJP members entered the meeting hall after the elections.

Soon after the results were announced, the Congress activists burst crackers. The newly-elected president and vice-president were greeted by Karnataka Pradesh Youth Congress Committee President and MLA Krishna Byregowda, MP Dhruvanarayan and MLAs H C Mahadevaprasad, C Puttarangashetty and R Narendra.

Strive for development

Rajeshwari said that she would strive for overall development of the district with the cooperation of members. The vice-president said impetus would be given for development of basic infrastructure by taking every member into confidence.

The BJP members said they would make honest efforts to implement all the developmental works launched by the State government. They would work in tune with the principles and ideology of the party.

The BJP would discharge its duty as a responsible opposition party. The party would join hands with the ruling party for the development of the district. The Congress that held the power for two times failed to concentrate on development. The Congress members were more bothered about their individual development because of which the district remained backward in all fields, said A C Rajashekar, Nagendramurthy, G S Nithya, Chandrakalabai, Sarasamma and Lakshmi Puttaswamy.
