Chikkamagaluru students win Prajavani quiz contest

B T Tanush and R Akash of Amber Valley Residential School, Chikkamagaluru, emerged winners in the Hassan Zone Prajavani Quiz Championship, conducted by  The Printers (Mysore) Private Limited (TPML), publishers of Deccan Herald, Prajavani, Sudha and Mayura, at Ambedkar Bhavan, here, on Tuesday.

The winning team marched into the grand finale scheduled to be held in Bengaluru, on January 24.

The fourth edition of quiz saw more than 500 students from 83 schools in Hassan zone vie for the top slot and thereby book a place in the championship finals.

Raghav Chakravarthy was the quiz master. The students, who answered the rapid-fire round, had the opportunity to inaugurate the programme.

The top six teams in the written test competed made it to the zonal finals. Questions related to the district and others were shot and the students vied with each other to answer them in a jiffy.

The students of Amber Valley Residential School scored 65 marks to advance into the grand finale.

Speaking to DH, winners B T Tanush and R Akash said the quiz programme was held in a transparent manner and was very interesting. "All arrangements were made properly and the questions were not very tough. We are happy and proud to represent Hassan in the state-level competition," they said.

Anish and Pramod of Podhar International School finished runners-up while K P Hemraj and Rishikesh were from Kendriya Vidyalaya managed a third-place finish.  

The winners received a cash prize of Rs 6,000, while the runners-up and third place holders pocketed Rs 4,000 and Rs 2,000 respectively. The other three finalists were presented with consolation prizes. Participation certificate was distributed to all the participants.

Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer K M Janaki, Department of Public Instructions Programme Coordinator Halanayak, Deeksha Institution's Dean Karthik Kote distributed the prizes.

The competition was organised by TPML in association with Deeksha group of institutions, in addition to Walnut Knowledge Solutions as quiz partner, Sunpure oil as health partner, Syndicate Bank as bank partner and Glucovita Bolts as energy partner.

The Printers (Mysore) Private Limited (TPML) Circulation Manager H C Lakshmikanth, Brand Strategy Development Manager Harshavardhan, and Hassan circulation executive Yatish were present.
