Citizens plan 'Vision Mysuru-2030' to retain Heritage City's prized tag

In order to ensure sustainable and healthy development of the Heritage City, Chintakara Chavadi, a group of citizens plan to host ‘Vision Mysuru-2030’, a two-day symposium to discuss the development of Mysuru. The symposium will be held at Ganabharathi in Kuvempunagar in the city on August 12 and 13.

Addressing reporters here on Sunday, former MLA D Madegowda, also founder of the Chavadi said that the objective of the symposium is to ensure sustainable development of the city which is known for its heritage, culture and beauty. Madegowda said that Mysuru kingdom was a role model for other provinces during the rule of Wadiyars as it was a planned city. In recent years however, the city has been developing in an unplanned way. “Mysuru is turning into another Bengaluru,” he said. The outcome of the symposium will be documented and submitted to the concerned authorities for further consideration, he added.

Prominent personalities, who are well aware about Mysuru, its culture and tradition will conduct technical sessions on further developing the city. Legal expert CKN Raja, former vice chancellor of Kuvempu University Venkataramaiah, Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer M R Ravi, Professor Yeshwanth Dongre, Anti-Corruption Bureau, Mysuru division, Superintendent of Police H T Shekar, professor K S Nagapathy and others will present technical papers on ‘Mysuru Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow’, ‘Planned Development and Housing’, ‘Cleanliness and Solid Waste Management’, ‘Internal Transport’, ‘Law and Order’, ‘Industries and Employment Generation’, ‘Role of Youths’ and others.

Nityastananda Maharaj of Sri Ramakrishna Ashrama, Mysuru, will inaugurate the event and Mysuru Deputy Commissioner D Randeep will be the chief guest. Madegowda will preside. Journalist Ravindra Bhat will deliver the valedictory address and Mysuru District Cooperative Federation president H V Rajeev will be the chief guest.
