CM okays medical college, dt complex in Chikmagalur

Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar has promised to sanction medical college and a district complex building for Chikmagalur.

Speaking after laying foundation for various development work in Chikmagalur on Saturday, he said that the government has taken measures to set up medical colleges in seven districts.

“We had missed Chikmagalur. Deputy Commissioner and Ministers should identify land for the college and send a proposal to the government. I will make sure that the proposal is okayed,” he said.

Higher Education Minister C T Ravi said that if the medical college is sanctioned to the district, then district hospital will be upgraded.

The CM has okayed district complex. The complex will come up at a cost of Rs 40 crore to Rs 45 crore.

“My opponents have been spreading rumour that I will not contest for the election in Chikmagalur. The people of Chikmagalur have considered me as their son. It is left for the voters to decide whether I should contest in Chikmagalur or not. Power is not permanent.”

Minister for Social Welfare A Narayanaswamy said that the State government has not neglected any sector. About Rs 30 crore has been utilised for the development of Dalit colonies in Chikmagalur constituency.

Chief Minister was felicitated with Mysore Peta on the occasion.
