C'magalur district admn plans eco tourism in Kudremukh

Speaking at a meeting, he said the Union government was planning to start a training centre to provide training to the military personnel at Kudremukh. Few military officials have already contacted the district in this regard. The process of shifting machinery from Kudremukh to Mangalore is on. There are possibilities of bridges getting damaged owing to the shfting of huge machineries. “We have given the permission to shift the machineries to Mangalore on the condition that they have to repair the bridges if it gets damaged,” he added.

National Park

About 7,000 hetare land in Kudremukh region has been declared as National Park. Of which, 1,000 hectare was under mining. The reamining 4,000 hectare land will be developed for the promotion of eco tourism, the DC said.

With the promotion of tourism in the region, locals will be benefited, he opined.

Drinking water

He said there is severe drinking water problem in Kadur and Sakharayapattana due to the falure of pumpsets. The Mescom has been directed not to disrupt the power supply during the supply of water.

The underground water is fast depleting in Kadur region. Hence, the water is depleting in borewells.

There is a need to rejuvenate underground water. In case of necessity, water will be supplied in tankers.

A control room has already been set up in Deputy Commissioner’s office. People can contact the control room in case of any emergency related to drinking water, he added.
