Congress to start ZP, TP poll campaign from Mysuru

Siddaramaiah to inaugurate convention on Saturday

In view of the Zilla and Taluk Panchayat elections scheduled to be held in two phases in the State on February 13 and 20, Congress will kick-start its mega campaign from Mysuru on February 6. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will sound the bugle at the grounds opposite Maharaja’s College on Saturday at 11 am.

Cooperation and Chamarajanagar District In-charge Minister H S Mahadev Prasad told media, on Thursday, as many as 50,000 workers from eight districts under Mysuru revenue division were expected to attend the meet.

A majority of the party workers, up to 40,000, are expected from Mysuru and Chamarajanagar districts alone, he added.

Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president G Parameshwara, All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary Oscar Fernandes, Congress party leader in Lok Sabha M Mallikarjun Kharge, and Member of Parliament from Chikkaballapur M Veerappa Moily are expected to attend the meet.

The meet in Mysuru will be followed by similar conventions at Kalaburagi on February 7, Tumakuru (Bengaluru division) on February 8 and Hubballi (Belagavi division) on February 9.
