In a meeting of the Council on Wednesday, he said the municipal councillors should respond to the problems of the members.

They should perform their duties and take action to ensure proper utilisation of the funds released by the Government, he added.

Vice-president M Bhaktavatsalam said the City has not received ‘a single paisa’ from the legislators’ funds for developmental works in the last two years.
Of the 141 works undertaken by the legislators, if at least a few had been arranged for within the limits of Kolar Gold Field, the citizens of the City would have seen much more effects of development, Bhaktavatsalam said.

Horrible conditions
The public toilets in the ET Block have choked lines and the water from the pits are entering the houses in the Colony. Persistent complaints are being filed at the Municipal Council for the last two months, but there have been no actions taken to relieve the people of the trouble, said Council member Ashok, with fury.
The BGML region sees no work related to hygiene, but the contractors keep getting their wages, alleged Council member Shivakumar.
In response, Councillor Yarrappa said the contract period would end by September 30. New tenders will be called and hygiene of the area would be given prominence, he assured.

Hesitant steps
The Council was accused of taking no definitive and proper step to give the relief money to the victims of rain in Sosepalya. The former president Rashid Khan had surveyed the area and promised relief money worth Rs five thousand to each family.
Yet, the Council has failed in responding to the trauma of the citizens, the members complained.
The members were informed that the various Dr Ambedkar statues in the City would be restored. They also agreed to provide the new president a vehicle. A Chirashanti vehicle was also granted for public benefit.

Street dog menace
The meeting also agreed to have street dogs operated in order to prevent their menace through procreation. Appropriate facilities would be made to provide drinking water. Borewells would be dug and pumpsets would be repaired through annual contract, the meeting agreed.
President Dayanand instructed the staff to collect the tax due from BEML and BGML immediately.
