Last Updated 23 April 2010, 18:01 IST

Addressing the reporters here on Friday, CPIM District Secretary Vishwanath Rai said that the Union government should go for ‘cut motions’ against its decision of hiking the price of petrol and diesel.

“The scenario is not different in the State. The State government has utterly failed to provide uninterrupted power supply. It has made common man’s life pathetic. The hike in milk price, increase in the bus fares and power charges speaks a volume on government’s apathy towards poor man,” he alleged. They demand withdrawal of decision hiking the prices of petrol, diesel, milk, power, bus fares. Besides, the State government should drop the idea of increasing the water tariff. Subsidies should be given to the dairy farmers, uninterrupted power supply should be made available in the rural areas, rations should be offered as per the assurances made in the poll manifesto. The cereals up to 35 kg should be given at Rs 2 per kg. The criterion to the income limits for BPL card holders should be raised to Rs 30,000 and all the entitled should be provided ration cards, he added.
K V Bhat from CPI, Ramprasad Shetty from JD (S) and others were present.
