The party has worked out the modalities of the agitation to be held over the next three months. Agitations would be held at the hobli, taluk and district level, in support of the cause of the workers and agriculturists.

Several problems

Workers, the poor and the backward classes are facing one or the other problem, without water and irrigation facilities in Chikkaballapur district, CPI(M) leaders said.

They say that everyone should get justice and be able to live with dignity. Minimum wages for the working class and job security are some of the demands that will be put forth during a three-day mega rally to be held in Bangalore from July 18.

Bescom workers, Gram Panchayat workers, those working in the TMCs and CMCs, sericulture workers and porters will take part in the agitation.

Protest

A protest would be held in front of the office of the Chikkaballapur Deputy Commissioner from August 26 to 28, demanding that Ashraya houses should be provided to those living in huts and sheds.

Site applications

“As many as 30,000 applications have been received for houses and sites in Chikkaballapur, Chintamani, Gouribidanur, Shidlaghatta, Bagepalli and Gudibande. The demands of the applicants should be fulfilled,” CPI(M) district unit secretary G V Sreerama Reddy told Deccan Herald.

The government should provide employment, as there are not many industries in the district, he said. Irrigation facilities should be provided to the farmers, he said. All these demands would be highlighted during the agitation, he added.
