After a meeting convened by MLA C T Ravi, a decision was made to take a delegation to urge the chief minister to sanction funds for the setting up a government medical and engineering college, upgrading the district hospital and a comprehensive irrigation project in the district.

The decision was taken during an all party leaders meeting held on Wednesday.

The MLA said that Medical Education Minister D K Shivakumar had stated that depending on the availability of funds, the decision to set up new medical colleges will be taken.

However, the government has already sanctioned a medical college to Kanakapura. The government is dilly-dallying over sanctioning funds for the already sanctioned medical college, he alleged.

The government in 2012-13 had sanctioned a medical college to Chikkamagaluru. Already 30 acres of land has been earmarked at Kadrimidri at Ambale hobli. The chief minister should be urged to earmark funds for the medical college in the budget, said Ravi.

He further said that a detailed project report worth Rs 950 crore to fill water from Bhadra reservoir to lakes in Tarikere, Kadur and Chikkamagaluru taluks needs approval from the government.

The MLA said that the fourlaning work on the road from Kadur-Chikkamagaluru will commence from January at an estimated cost of Rs 297 crore.
