It may be recalled that Ranjani was abducted by four youths who had arrived in a Qualis car, right in front of her house in Adaganahalli on Wednesday. It is said that Ranjani was in love with Abhilash, son of Puttaswamy, residents of Bhuvaneshwari nagar since the past two years. After the so-called kidnap incident, Ranjani and Abhilash eloped and got their marriage registered at an office in Mysore on Friday. Later, the couple arrived at the town police station, where a case of abduction was registered and explained their love story to PSI Mahesh.

Ranjani has issued a statement saying that no one had abducted her, and she, with her own will had eloped with Abhilash in the car. It became inevitable to take the extreme step, as her parents had fixed her wedding with another person, against her wishes. She also appealed to police to allow them to lead their life or give police protection.

The love story ended with a perfect note with the police after registering the statements of the couple sent them wishing good luck. The efforts taken by the parents and relatives of Ranjani to persuade her to return home to marry someone else proved futile.
