<p>Agricultural activities have gained momentum in the district, following the good spell rain in the district. Farmers in plain and semi-Malnad regions have transplanted onions, potatoes, tomatoes and chillies.</p>.<p class="bodytext">With comparatively better rain than the previous year, farmers in Kadur, Tarikere and Chikkamagaluru taluk, have transplanted vegetable crops in a larger area.</p>.<p class="bodytext">As on July 2, onion, tomato, chilly and potato crops have been transplanted in 7,801 hectares of land, as against the set target of 17,078 hectares.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Raitha Sangha district President M C Basavaraju said that some crops have to be transplanted again as the crops transplanted earlier did not sprout due to excess humidity.</p>.<p class="bodytext">A M Prashant, a farmer from Anuvanahalli said that as the rain has been good this year, onions are expected to yield good profit.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Another farmer Siddegowda said that the farmers have to take enough care in protecting the crops from diseases.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Horticulture department Deputy Director Poornima said that the average rate of transplantation has been higher than normal and 100% achievement in transplantation is expected.</p>
