Last Updated 18 January 2016, 18:07 IST

Acrobat Jyothiraj alias Kothiraj performed the adventurous act of climbing a building without the help of ropes and ladders here on Monday.

He performed in front of a large number of people and amused them during his visit to the city. People were wonderstruck when he climbed up the wall of Government First Grade Women’s College. Also, he climbed down the wall, without the help of rope.

He was looking out for a 150-foot tall building for the act. But as there was no such building, he climbed the the college building.  Later, the students of the college performed stunts under the guidance of Jyothiraj and General Thimmaiah Adventure Academy member Sathish.

Speaking after inaugurating the Adventure Club at IDSG College, he suggested a department of adventure could be opened at the college. He lamented that sports are not being given much encouragement in the country.

Jyothiraj said people have recognised his talent. “I was invited to settle down in Tamil Nadu. But, I rejected it as Karnataka has provided me food and shelter. I will continue to stay in Karnataka,” he added.

The programme was organised by the Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports and General Thimmaiah National Adventure Academy.
