MP supporting BJP: JDS

Last Updated 25 June 2012, 18:27 IST

District JD(S) President V P Shashidhar has alleged that the Congress MP H Vishwanath is indirectly supporting the BJP.

He was speaking to media persons after submitting a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner Dr N V Prasad demanding to probe into illegal quarry , which has been carried out unabated, at Yalakanur village on Monday.

Attributing  motive behind H Vishwanath not raising the voice against illegal sand mining in Kodlipet, he said the MP did not utter a single word on the alleged involvement of the BJP leaders in the illegal sand mining. He said that the MP had visited Yalakanur quarrying spot after cancelling the review meeting of the implementation of the Central government’s developmental programmes in the district, only for political gains.

“Crushing stones and sand are necessary for the developmental work in the district. If the mining is carried out after obtaining licence it would bring revenue to the government. But in the Kodlipet sand mining, only two to three miners posess licence while rest are involved in illegal mining.

Why has the MP maintained silence over the grave issue, while he is hell bent over conducting probe on one Vijaya who is into stone quarrying after obtaining the licence. The MP’s attitude is not justifiable,” said  Shashidhar.

MLA flayed         Speaking to media, former minister Jeevijaya mocked at one of the recent statements issued by MLA MP Appachu Ranjan on title deeds as meaningless. The MLA had recently stated that there is provision to obtain title deeds to construct houses in 3.5 cents paisari land and the application forms were available in his office, which could be filled and returned to him.

“The MLA’s have the responsibility to frame laws and not to distribute the application forms. The responsibility of the distribution and reception of the filled applications lie on the shoulder of the government officials.”
