Mysore - Goa train flagged off

Departs from here at 3.15 pm; reaches Vasco-Da-Gama at 6 am

Train No. 06201 Mysore-Vascoda Gama (Goa) will run once in a week on every Mondays and Tuesdays between Mysore and Vasco. The train departs from city at 3.15 pm and arrives in Vaco-Da-Gama at 6 am on Tuesday. In return journey, T No. 06202 departs from Vasco at 8.45 pm on Tuesdays and reach Mysore at 11.35 am on every Wednesday.

The special express train will travel via K R Nagara, Holenarasipur, Hassan, Arasikere, Birur, Davanagere, Ranibennur, Haveri, Hubli, Dharwad, Alnavar, Londa, Castle rock, Kulem, Sanvordem, Madgaon to reach Vascoda Gama. The train will have two II AC class, two III AC, 11 sleeper, two ladies compartments and three general compartments.

The journey time between the two cities will be approximately 14 hours and 45 minutes. The fare for the trip is Rs 275 for adults and  Rs 205 for senior citizen (men) and Rs158 for senior citizen (women and children) for sleeper class. While, the fare is Rs1,018 for II AC (Rs742 for senior citizen men and  Rs 545 for senior citizen women and children). The unreserved ticket will be available for Rs140 for adults.

Prasad Kumar Urs, a cabin crew with the Railways who will retire this month flagged off the train in the presence of Divisional Railway Manager B B Verma and other senior officials of Railways.

Talking to reporters, Verma said there was a long-time demand for the Mysore - Goa service. The service connects many important places between the route. The fare is also very less compared to bus services and travellers would have comfortable journey, he remarked.

Observing that there were lot of foreign tourists in the train, he said the services between Mysore and Goa, two important centres would also provide a boost to tourism sector in both regions.
