Rs 20.37-cr infra project okayed for Kolar

The proposed project would be funded by World Bank and Karnataka Urban Infrastructure Development Corporation and is aimed to the integrated development of the City.
The meeting held at the office of the Deputy Commissioner here on Friday, the blue print of the plan prepared by the KMRP consultant.

It is said that following the pressure brought by MLC V R Sudarshana over according priority for developing infrastructure in the two backward cities, the government has taken up the project. Under the proposed project, a sum of 52 crore could be spent to strengthen water supply network, Rs 7.75 crore for adopting rain water harvesting, Rs 10 crore for developing roads in the City and Rs 1.5 crore for development of slums. It was directed that tender process for the project should be completed by obtaining the the administrative approval within the next two months and the work should be completed in two years.

MLC Sudarshan, who also present in the meeting said the City should shed its ëbackwardí tag and the City Municipal Council should evince interest in successful implementation.
The meeting was scheduled to be held on April 28 itself, but was deferred as election code of conduct came into force following Gram Panchayat polls.
