Efforts are on to destabilise my govt: HDK

Last Updated 21 September 2018, 12:30 IST

Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy on Saturday said that efforts were being made to destabilise his government.

Kumaraswamy's observation comes a day after Congress leader Siddaramaiah said that he would become chief minister again.

“Efforts are being made to destabilise the government. I learnt from the media that there will be a new government in September (this year) and someone is ready to become the chief minister,” he told reporters without taking Siddaramaiah’s name.

Siddaramaiah’s statement made in Holenarasipura in Hassan district on Friday has led to intense speculation that survival of the JD(S)-Congress coalition government is doubtful.

However, Siddaramaiah, while speaking to the media in Mysuru on Saturday, clarified that he would become the chief minister if people blessed him in the next assembly polls.

He also said that the next assembly polls would be held after 5 years.

‘I am not bothered’

Kumaraswamy further said he was aware of all developments and that he will not try to protect his post.

“I am aware of what is happening. I am not bothered. I will not try to save my seat. I will try to do good work as long as I am the Chief Minister,” he stated.
