Fisheries Minister Venkatrao Nadagouda said on Saturday that the government had received information that the fishermen missing from the state's coast may be held captive in Maharashtra.
“There have been instances of Maharashtra authorities fining our fishermen. We are suspecting that the fishermen are held captive in Maharashtra. The government has launched an investigation. The department will urge the chief minister to write to Maharashtra in this regard,” he added.
Nadagouda said that the Coast Guard had searched the seas for the fishermen, using choppers.
