The bundh call was given by the Hyderabad Karnataka Horatagala Samanvaya Samithi urging the Central government to extend the benefit of Article 371 of the Constitution to the backward Hyderabad Karnataka region for its speedy development.

In Gulbarga, the common man and students, who were on their way to attend their PUC examinations were at receiving end.

Although the Samithi had claimed that they have given exemption to the examinations from the bundh certain miscreants and hooligans acted contrary to their claims.

Raichur

In Raichur all the business establishments, schools and colleges were closed. Transportation was affected as the movement of NEKRTC buses was halted.

Travellers found it very hard to move from one place to  another. The main commercial centres Cloth Bazaar, Shroff Bazaar, Netaji Road, Mahaveer Chowk, vegetable market, Teen Khandil area and Station Road wore a deserted look as all the shops were closed.

District Congress Committee, Hyderabad-Karnataka Vimochana Horata Samithi, Karnataka Rakshana Vedike and other organisations supported the bundh call. The Samanvaya Samiti members staged dharna and took out procession from Super Market area and reached deputy commissioner's office to submit a memorandum.
